Green Cover

  • Over 43% of the total SUGEN Plant area and 40% of the total DGEN Plant area are under green cover as against statutory norm of 33%. Further, 50 meters of green periphery plantation has been undertaken against the norm of 30 meters at SUGEN. More than 1,28,000 trees of all sizes have been planted at SUGEN.
  • Around 893 trees were transplanted with a healthy success rate of 77% during the construction of SUGEN Plant; during which period no trees were cut down.
  • Trees were planted across 5500 sq. meters of land near SUGEN and the income generated from these plantations goes to the villagers.
  • Mangroves were planted in 50 Hectares of land in Dahej to arrest the soil erosion in the coastal belt near DGEN Plant.
  • The Company contemplates to contribute towards upgradation/ maintenance of infrastructure facilities and other activities to be carried out in Dahej (Gujarat), Vizag (Andhra Pradesh) & Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh) locations in India.

Green Initiatives:

  • The formulations blocks of Torrent Pharma’s Dahej facility have been designed based on a detailed sun path analysis that reduces their exposure to sun thereby reducing the heat load for air conditioning. Besides, 33% of the total land area of the plant has been allocated for green cover.
  • All manufacturing and research facilities of Torrent Pharma are zero discharge sites. All treated waste water and manure made out of the site's bio-degradable waste are used in the green areas within the site.
  • Urja Dweep is a unique self-energizing residential complex based solely on green power at SUGEN Plant (Surat). It comprises: Swadhar (the medical centre), Jarul (a 48 apartment residential colony) and a Bio Gas plant for using the waste of the surroundings and consequently support the gas and electricity requirement of Swadhar and Jarul.
  • Rain water harvesting to conserve and reuse water at SUGEN and DGEN Plants.
